Data Policy

1. Overview

This Data Policy describes the sources of financial and market data displayed on Alpha Terminal, how that data is obtained, its limitations, and your responsibilities when using it. This policy is separate from our Privacy Policy, which covers personal data about users.

2. Data Sources

Alpha Terminal aggregates data from a range of third-party providers and public sources, including but not limited to:
  • FRED (Federal Reserve Bank of St. Louis) — macroeconomic series including inflation, GDP, labour, and monetary data
  • SEC EDGAR — public filings including 10-K, 10-Q, 8-K, Form 4, and institutional holdings
  • Finnhub — equity news, earnings data, and company fundamentals
  • Financial Modeling Prep (FMP) — financial statements, ratios, and market data
  • Yahoo Finance — market quotes, news, and reference data
  • Binance — real-time cryptocurrency market data via WebSocket streams
  • Eurostat, ONS, Bank of England, ECB, BOJ, IMF, World Bank — official international macro data
  • CoinGecko — cryptocurrency market reference data
  • ForexFactory — economic calendar events

3. Data Accuracy and Completeness

While we make reasonable efforts to display accurate and up-to-date data, we cannot guarantee the accuracy, completeness, timeliness, or fitness for any particular purpose of the data displayed on the Platform. Data may contain errors, omissions, or delays due to:
  • Delays in upstream data providers releasing or updating information
  • API outages or rate-limiting by third-party providers
  • Parsing or transformation errors during data processing
  • Revisions to official data by the original issuing authority
Users should independently verify any data before making financial decisions.

4. Data Latency

Different data types on the Platform have different update frequencies:
  • Real-time market prices (crypto) — streamed directly via WebSocket with near-zero latency
  • Equity quotes — typically delayed 15 minutes unless otherwise stated
  • Macro indicators — updated when official statistical releases are published (monthly, quarterly, or annually)
  • News feeds — refreshed every 60 seconds
  • SEC filings — updated as new filings are made available on EDGAR

5. Prohibited Use of Data

Data displayed on Alpha Terminal is licensed for personal, non-commercial informational use only. You may not:
  • Redistribute, resell, or republish data from the Platform without written permission
  • Use automated scraping or extraction to bulk-collect data from the Platform
  • Use the data to build competing products or services without a separate licensing agreement

6. Third-Party Data Licences

Each data provider has their own terms of use and data licensing agreements. By using Alpha Terminal, you agree to comply with the applicable terms of each data provider whose data you access through the Platform. We are not responsible for changes to third-party data availability or licensing terms.
